Roll on / Roll Off Service

We can carry anything from trains to helicopters, Industrial Machinery and construction equipment, boats & yachts, tracked pieces, generators, oil and gas equipment, buses, trucks, and much more…  One World Shipping Network cargo handling personnel, have decades of experience and expertise in stowing and securing Ro/Ro, break bulk and project cargo to ensure that your cargo is transported safely without damage.

With RORO service Your cargo is carefully placed on a trailer, towed onto the cargo ship and driven off when it arrives at your destination.   Roll-On/Roll-Off vessels are specifically designed to carry wheeled and tracked vehicles. Yachts are driven or towed on and off the ship by means of either the ship’s own ramps or shore-based ramps. Because it is designed to accommodate cargoes which cannot be stacked but which vary in height, below-deck space and volume utilization is generally less efficient than on a containership. RO/RO ships are thus commercially viable only in certain specialized trades.

For Roll-on / Roll-off, service is the most commonly used boat shipping method for vessels that do not exceed specific size restrictions. After being placed on a trailer, the boat is towed onto the carrier and stored securely in the belly of the ship, which becomes much like an enclosed floating parking lot. Roll-on/ Roll-off service is cost-effective and ensures that your boat is safe from salt water and other elements by storing it inside the carrier. This boat shipping method is also quick and convenient, as the boats are simply driven off the ship once they reach their destination.

SERVICE

This is a roll on roll off shipping service rather like a ferry. Generally used for shipping vehicles such as cars and commercial machinery. Goods are transported on mafi trailers which are rolled into the vessel using tractor units. Boats are transported using this service by loading the boat on to a shipping cradle and then on to the mafi trailer, alternatively the boat can be rolled onto the vessel using its own trailer.

ADVANTAGES

Goods are stowed under deck and therefore protected. Loading is safe as there is minimal handling & lifting. Ships depart on a scheduled service that are generally weekly or bi weekly, therefore giving more options on shipping dates.

DISADVANTAGES

As the vessel is completely enclosed door heights can be an issue. Generally the door height is between five and six meters. General rule of thumb is to calculate one metre extra to the height of your cargo to encompass the mafi trailer and cradle.
