This unique service offered by a submersible vessel involves loading yachts & Boats onto a dedicated yacht & Boat carrier without the use of cranes. These often huge vessels submerge when at the loading port, allowing yachts to proceed on board. Once in position and secured by mooring lines, the vessel is raised and the yachts secured. These Float On – Float Off submersible vessels often target well known yachting destinations throughout the main yachting regions.
SERVICE
This is a semi submersible ship that will pump water into the hull making the ship sink in a controlled fashion. The ship is open at the rear of the vessel allowing boats to float into the hull, rather like a dry dock. Divers go down to place and weld supports forming cradles, once all is secured the ship pumps the water back out of the hull and the ship lifts up into its transport position.
ADVANTAGES
This service gives the greatest capacity to load and transport yachts. Up to 165m boats can be transported. It is a safe loading system limiting handling and lifting of the boats as they are floated into position.
DISADVANTAGES
This is the most restrictive option of all the services. Not a scheduled service, loading and discharge dates can and often will change. It can be very expensive for smaller yachts.
In short terms Vessel is delivered next to ship’s side upon notification when ship is ready to load. Ship’s deck is partially submerged in water. Vessel simply floats over the submerged portion of the carrier to its designated position. Water is slowly released and deck emerges back securing all boats on board in cradles.
